Praise God, Church Family of Faith!
Have you ever wondered when it was appropriate to keep your mouth shut as a believer?
"When do you keep your mouth shut as a Christian believer?" yes.
Let us look to the scriptures for answers: Proverbs 17:28, Proverbs 21:23, James 1:19-20, Matthew 5:37, and Ecclesiastes 3:7.
Dear Christian brothers and sisters,
We are called to be the salt and light of the world as Christians. We are commanded to speak the truth and spread the gospel to those around us. However, there are times when we need to keep our mouths shut. In fact, the Bible says a lot about the value of silence and knowing when to speak and when to be silent.
Proverbs 17:28 says, "Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues." Proverbs 17:28 reminds us that sometimes it is better to keep quiet than to speak and reveal our foolishness. We must learn to discern when it is appropriate to speak and when it is better to remain silent.
Proverbs 21:23 says, "Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity." Proverbs 21:23 reminds us that our words have power and can bring about both good and bad consequences. We must be careful with our words and learn to guard our mouths.
James 1:19-20 says, "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." James 1:19-20 reminds us that we should be slow to speak and quick to listen. We must learn to control our anger and not let it control us.
Matthew 5:37 says, "All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." Matthew 5:37 reminds us that we should be truthful in our speech and not use unnecessary words. We must learn to speak with integrity and honesty.
Ecclesiastes 3:7 says, "a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak." Ecclesiastes 3:7 reminds us that there is a time for everything, including silence. We must learn to discern when it is appropriate to speak and when it is better to remain silent.
In conclusion, as Christians, we must learn to discern when it is appropriate to speak and when it is better to remain silent. We must guard our mouths and speak with integrity and honesty. Let us strive to be wise with our words and bring about good in the world. Amen.
Let us pray:
Dear LORD God in Heaven, help me to be wise with my words and to know when it is appropriate to speak and when it is better to remain silent. Help me to guard my mouth and to speak with integrity and honesty. May my words bring about good and not harm. In Christ Jesus' mighty name, I have prayed. Amen.
