FAST AND BREAK NOW: DAY 04 of 7: Pray for Unforgiveness and Bitterness (Ephesians 4:31-32)

Ephesians 4:31–32 (NLT):

"Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you."

Fasting Day 4: Praying for Unforgiveness and Bitterness

On Day 4 of our fasting journey, we pray for the release of unforgiveness and bitterness in our lives. These toxic emotions can hinder spiritual growth and interpersonal relationships, leading to conflict, resentment, and anger. However, we can overcome these emotions through Christ's forgiveness and love, as well as God's Word, which reminds us to forgive one another, just as God has forgiven us through Christ. Hallelujah!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

In Ephesians 4:31–32 (NLT), the apostle Paul writes to the believers in Ephesus and urges them to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander and instead be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving towards one another, just as God through Christ Jesus has forgiven them. As believers, you have been forgiven by God through Christ Jesus, and you are called to extend that same forgiveness to others. Hallelujah!

Ephesians 4:31–32 reminds you that you have been forgiven by God through Christ Jesus, and you are called to forgive others. By this justification, you no longer have to hold onto unforgiveness and bitterness, but instead, by the power of Christ Jesus' forgiveness, you can choose to forgive and release these toxic emotions and experience freedom and healing. Hallelujah.

To overcome unforgiveness and bitterness, first acknowledge the presence of these emotions in your heart. Unforgiveness and bitterness can manifest in various ways, such as holding grudges, harboring resentment, or seeking revenge as a way of constantly replaying past hurts in your mind. Recognize that these emotions are not from God and that God eagerly desires to set you free from them. Seek God's help and guidance in releasing unforgiveness and bitterness. Hallelujah!

To those who have been fasting, as you break your fast and pray today, remember Ephesians 4:31–32, which calls us to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander and to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving towards one another.

Dealing with unforgiveness and bitterness can teach you several lessons:

First, recognize the power of forgiveness and extend it to others, just as God has forgiven you through Christ Jesus. Forgiveness frees you from the burden of holding grudges and allows for healing and reconciliation.

Second, choose tenderness and kindness, extending grace and compassion while seeking to understand others' perspectives. This mindset shift can transform relationships and foster an environment of love and forgiveness.

Third, let go of slander and harsh words, replacing negative speech with encouraging, edifying, and loving words. This act of kindness can break the cycle of bitterness and pave the way for healing and restoration.

In Matthew 18:21–35  in the parable of the unforgiving servant, God has forgiven us through Christ Jesus, freeing us from the shackles of unforgiveness. You should extend the same forgiveness to others, freeing them from their debts and yourself from the shackles of unforgiveness. You should bear with and forgive one another, imitating Christ Jesus' forgiveness and letting go of any resentment and bitterness in your hearts.

Lastly, according to Proverbs 14:21, whoever despises his neighbor sins, but whoever is generous to the poor is blessed. You should choose to be forgiving, extending grace and mercy as you bless others with your kindness and tenderheartedness.

Finally, Proverbs 17:9 teaches that whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter divides close friends. By choosing to cover offenses with love and forgiveness, you can break the cycle of bitterness and promote healing and restoration.

So, today, follow Christ Jesus and let go of the unforgiveness and bitterness that have bound you. Only through Christ Jesus' power of forgiveness and love can you find genuine peace and freedom. You are now ready to release unforgiveness and bitterness.

Let us all pray,

Father in Heaven,
I am seeking Your assistance and guidance in letting go of unforgiveness and bitterness in my heart. I choose to forgive those who have wronged me in the same way that You have forgiven me, letting go of any grudges or resentments I may harbor. I beg You to heal and restore my relationships so that Your love may flow through me and bring reconciliation.
I beg for Your pardon and replace negative speech with words of encouragement, edification, and love.
I thank You for the parable of the unforgiving servant, which reminds me of the enormous debt You have forgiven me. I ask You to extend the same forgiveness to others, freeing them from their debts and releasing me from the shackles of unforgiveness.
I am also thankful for the instruction in Colossians 3:13 to bear with one another and forgive one another, just as You have forgiven us. Give me the fortitude to bear the flaws of others and imitate Your forgiveness in my relationships.
As Proverbs 14:21 instructs, I choose to be generous in my forgiveness, blessing others with my kindness and tenderheartedness. Finally, as Proverbs 17:9 instructs, I choose to cover offenses with love and forgiveness, refusing to dwell on past wrongs and letting bitterness grow.
I am church-built and healed, walking in forgiveness and love. I choose to let go of resentment and bitterness in order to embrace the freedom and healing provided for me through Christ Jesus. I prayed in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

In conclusion, as an act of worship and gratitude to God for His forgiveness and love, please remember to give your thanksgiving offertory and tithe. May God abundantly bless you as you continue to walk in forgiveness and love for one another. Bye for now, and may God's peace be with you always.
