FASTING DAY 2: Addiction and Bondage

Welcome to Day 2 of our fasting journey. Today, in this fasting journey, we focus on breaking addiction and bondage in our lives. Many of us believers are struggling with various addictions (such as substance abuse, gambling, pornography, and even social media) and bonds that hinder us from living a life of freedom in Christ Jesus. Bondage is when you find yourself trapped in a cycle of sin and feel so helpless and unable to break free from its grip by any of your efforts. Lose no hope. Have hope in Christ Jesus, who has promised us freedom from all the bonds that we are facing. Hallelujah!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

In John 8:36 (AMP), Christ Jesus is teaching and speaking to a group of Jews who believed in Him. He tells them that if they continue in His word, they will know the truth, and the truth will set them free. The Jews respond by saying that they are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved by anyone. Christ Jesus then responds back to the Jews, telling them that everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. But if the Son sets you free, then you will indeed be free. Hallelujah!

Believers, John 8:36 powerfully reminds you that Christ Jesus came to set us free from the bonds of sin and addiction. That you no longer have to be slaves to sin and that you no longer have to be slaves to the things that once held you captive. Hallelujah!

When you put your faith in Christ Jesus and follow His teachings, including following God's laws and living a life of obedience to Him, it is only through obedience that you can experience true freedom in Christ Jesus and break free from the chains of addiction and bondage that hold you back. Amen.

To break addiction and bondage, first look beyond yourself and around you and your neighborhood. When you observe keenly, you probably realize you know at least someone struggling with addiction, whether it's a friend, a family member, or even yourself. See! Addiction can be a powerful force that takes over our lives and leads us down a path of destruction. But the good news is that you serve a God who is greater than any addiction or bondage. God has the power to set you free and break the chains that are holding you back. Now rely on God's power and break away from addiction and bondage right now. Hallelujah!

To those who have been fasting, as you break your fast and pray today, remember John 8:36, which says that if the Son sets you free, you are unquestionably free.

Here are some of the lessons we've learned from our addiction and bondage experiences:

1. To overcome your difficulties, you must learn to rely on God's strength and power.

2. You must have faith in God's promises and believe that He can set you free.

3. You must persevere in prayer, even when nothing appears to be happening.

Among the possible examples are:

1. David's reliance on God's strength to overcome his difficulties and trust in Him to provide a way out. Believer, break your addiction to social media and anything else that takes up your time and attention, and instead focus on developing meaningful relationships with others especually with God.

2. According to 2 Peter 1:4, God has given us His precious and magnificent promises in order for us to share in His divine nature. You can put your faith in God's promises and believe that He can deliver you from any addiction or enslavement. Break your addiction to substance abuse and any other behavior that is destroying your health and relationships, just as Peter did, and instead seek help and support to overcome this problem.

3. In Luke 18:1, Jesus tells His disciples a parable about the importance of always praying and never giving up. Even when it appears that nothing is happening, you must persevere in prayer because God hears your prayers and will answer them in His perfect timing.

So Follow Christ Jesus today and break the bonds of sin that keep you trapped in a cycle of guilt and shame. It is only through Christ that you can turn to God's grace and forgiveness and find the freedom and healing you so desperately need. You are now ready to break free from addiction and bondage. Let us now break the bonds of addiction and enslavement through prayer.

Let us pray,

Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you today with a heavy heart, confessing my struggle with addiction and bondage. I recognize that these chains are not greater than you, for your word in John 8:36 says, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." I believe in the power of your promise, Lord.
I humbly ask for your help, dear Jesus, in breaking free from these chains that have held me captive for far too long. I know that with your strength and guidance, I can overcome this addiction and find true freedom in you. I am grateful for the promise of freedom that you have given me.
Lord, I also lift up those who are currently struggling with addiction. I pray that they may find the help and support they need to overcome this problem. May they encounter your grace and forgiveness, which bring freedom and healing. Help them break free from the cycle of sin and find hope in you.
Holy Spirit, I ask for your empowerment in my life. Give me the strength to overcome my addictions and break free from all bonds. Grant me the ability to resist temptation and live a life that is pleasing to you. I declare that I am free in Christ Jesus and will no longer be a slave to sin and addiction.
Thank you, Lord, for the freedom you have given me. I pray that I may walk in this freedom every day, relying on your guidance and strength. I am grateful for the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, who has set me free. In Christ's mighty name, I have prayed. Amen.

In conclusion, we've prayed for the freedom that Christ Jesus has given you, as well as for those struggling with addiction and bondage. You have thus overcome the chains that bind you through Christ Jesus, and may you now live a life pleasing to God. I believe you have been built into a church and healed. I appreciate everyone's prayers and involvement in this.

Please remember to give your thanksgiving offering and tithe. Bye.
