Praise God, Church Family of Faith!
Day 1 scripture: Romans 12:2 (AMP)
"And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]."
As believers, we are called to renew our minds and transform ourselves by focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes. This is especially relevant during the week of fasting, as we seek to draw closer to God and align ourselves with His will.
The background of this scripture is that Paul was writing to the Romans, urging them to live a life that is pleasing to God. He emphasized the importance of renewing their minds and transforming themselves, rather than conforming to the values and customs of the world.
During this week of fasting, on this day one we can learn several lessons from Romans 12:2.
Firstly, we believers should focus on renewing our minds and transforming ourselves, rather than simply abstaining from food. Fasting is not just about physical discipline, but also about spiritual growth.
Secondly, we believers should also strive to align ourselves with God's will and purpose for our lives. This means letting go of our own desires and submitting ourselves to God's plan.
Lastly, we believers should not forget to seek to live a life that is pleasing to God, rather than conforming to the values and customs of the world. This means making choices that are in line with Jesus Christ's teachings and values.
Let us pray:
Dear God, we thank you for this week of fasting and for the opportunity to draw closer to you. We ask that you renew our minds and transform us, so that we may align ourselves with your will and purpose for our lives. Help us to live a life that is pleasing to you, and guide us as we continue to fast and seek your presence. In Christ Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Thank you for joining us as we embark on a journey of spiritual discipline and growth through fasting.
