WEEK 30 - Pray for Spiritual Maturity

Praise God Church !! 

I welcome you to endure through every bit of these tough trying times. 

On the look of things many of you seem to be easing from the pandemic while others are facing unintended circumstances which are a result of the pandemic.   

Among the circumstances of the pandemic; has been the fall of worship as people seem to seek more tangible solutions that to them they seem not to believe they can get through prayer give the fact that the churches are still facing a shut down. See most certainly most of you had planned for the year 2020 to be a year of sorts. 

Now all those plans seem not to be holding. While many pastors and church leaders are not even certain of when the church houses will be allowed to be open for worship, many believers are steadily backsliding from their faith, day by day most of you are developing doubt as to whether through prayer, praise, worship, supplication and intercession the living God will listen and come to your rescue. You have lost hope, you are living under pressure [most pastors are facing eviction notice threats from landlords vs the failure to even sustain a meaningful meal as most have resorted to a single meal a day vs having to keep steadfast in faith], cyber theft and other thefts have increased, panic has set in and more and more of you including some pastors are losing the needed spiritual maturity required for you to be able to endure through at this time. 

Yes I understand your situation as I too I am faced with the same experience: Everywhere I go I am welcomed with a face of uncertainty, lost hope, and more and more of you worse still are either loosing interest in praying or have lost interest in praying. 

This unintended circumstance is understandable, I understand if you too are no-longer so sure about your year's plans anymore. You are hesitant of doing anything, you feel your next move may as well be crushed. I tell you child of God, it is not the pandemic or the trouble you face that is affecting you anymore. It is rather your way of attitude in relation to the uncertainty that is dampening your church life and relationship with God - who you need now more than you ever did to move forward.      

This is the time you must be closer to God than you ever did. This is the time to develop more spiritual maturity: So start by stepping away from any evil desires and take heart with faith. James 4:2-3 NLT says, "... the reason you don't have what you want is that you don't ask God for it. And even when you do ask, you don't get it because your whole motive is wrong-you want only what will give you pleasure." What is causing the fear to move on is our attitude, your attitude to face the unknown by trusting and believing in God to lead us on. James 4:4 NLT tells you that, "if your aim is to enjoy this world, you can't be a friend of God." To be able to walk past the uncertain troubles, God wants you to be faithful (James 4:5 NLT). Humble yourself before God and  resist the devil responsible for all evil works and the devil will flee from you, once you have resisted the devil, draw close to God, and God will draw close to you (James 4:7-8 NLT). 

Let me encourage you child of God, regardless of the situation in which you are, maintain your devotion to God. James 5:13 NLT encourages you to keep on praying if you are suffering and if God has done you well, please always be thankful. I therefore encourage you not to worry. Instead be encouraged. Be spiritually mature with this weeks prayer guide to walk your life to the next level: 

Day 1 Start your Journey of being Spiritually Mature

• Isaiah 28:21-29 NIV
• 2 Samuel 5:20-25 NIV
• 2 Chronicles 14:11 NLT    

Isaiah 28:21-29 New International Version (NIV):

"21 The LORD will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon— to do his work, his strange work, and perform his task, his alien task. 22 Now stop your mocking, or your chains will become heavier; the Lord, the LORD Almighty, has told me of the destruction decreed against the whole land. 23 Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. 24 When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil? 25 When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cumin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field? 26 His God instructs him and teaches him the right way. 27 Caraway is not threshed with a sledge, nor is the wheel of a cart rolled over cumin; caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cumin with a stick. 28 Grain must be ground to make bread; so one does not go on threshing it forever. The wheels of a threshing cart may be rolled over it, but one does not use horses to grind grain. 29 All this also comes from the LORD Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent." Prayer Lesson: 

The Gospel message in Isaiah 28:21-29 among others teaches us that to be Spiritually mature:

1. Maturity starts with you [Stop your mocking, or your chains will become heavier]. Change the way you behave in-face of God. Know that God sees everything you do even when in trouble or when you think you have hidden.
2. Want to Obey and Obey God his way [Be humble].
3. Want to Understand and Understand God his way [Listen and pay attention to God's voice and not your voice even when you are praying loud, by paying attention and hearing what God says beyond your voice or beyond the circumstance you are facing or beyond the noise crowded on you or beyond the troubles and trials or strains you seem not to have a solution for]. Once you understand God, He lets you know what to do.
4. Want to seek wisdom and seek Wisdom from and through God [Allow yourself to receive teachings from God]. Only God can instruct and teach you the right way. God's wisdom is magnificent - what we never understand can only be explained by God.
5. Want God's plan and Keep in God's plan [God's plan is wonderful]. We can't know what your future holds yet God is all knowing. To do this you should follow (1-4 above).

2 Samuel 5:20-25 New International Version (NIV): 

"20 So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the LORD has broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place was called Baal Perazim. 21 The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men carried them off. 22 Once more the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim; 23 so David inquired of the LORD, and he answered, “Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. 24 As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the LORD has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” 25 So David did as the LORD commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer." (2 Samuel 5:20-25 NIV)

Prayer Lesson: 

The Gospel message in 2 Samuel 5:20-25 teaches us that, to Keep Spiritually mature amidst troubles or attacks, in order to over come your chains or troubles: 

1. Always seek God's wisdom before doing anything
2. Let God always act on your behalf for you to overcome your trials. Only if you are obedient, doing this will allow God hand over to you your enemies possessions, hand over to you the things that you once feared, the things that you once never owned, the properties you once never owned or even thought you would ever own, the job you would never have got, the success you would never have attained, name the blessing - let Him act on your behalf and you shall attain it in the mighty name of Jesus. 
3. Always listen for God's signal before you can act on anything. As you pray, do not listen to your voice - listen beyond your voice - be alert and attentive and the LORD will give you a signal. Allow God to move ahead of even your thoughts. 

2 Chronicles 14:11 New Living Translation (NLT):

"11 Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God, "O LORD, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O LORD you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!" (2 Chronicles 14:11 NLT)

Prayer Lesson: 

The Gospel in 2 Chronicles 14:11 teaches us that to be Spiritually Mature we also have to learn that: 

1. Any help against any attack or trial can only come from the living God and not man
2. You always and only have to trust in the living God to instruct and teach you the right ways so that you just know what to do. 
3. Always praise the name of the living God and not men or yourself [Refuse to give men any position or applause over the living God for all things are done through God (from God - his plans - what He has allowed to happen - and His wisdom].
4. Always as you pray, praise and worship the living God as your one and only true God.

Day 2.  Come back home to God

• Jeremiah 3:6-25 NIV
• Hebrews 3:6-19 NIV

Jeremiah 3:6-25 New International Version (NIV):

Unfaithful Israel

"6 During the reign of King Josiah, the LORD said to me, “Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree and has committed adultery there. 7 I thought that after she had done all this she would return to me but she did not, and her unfaithful sister Judah saw it. 8 I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery. 9 Because Israel’s immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land and committed adultery with stone and wood. 10 In spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return to me with all her heart, but only in pretense,” declares the LORD. 11 The LORD said to me, “Faithless Israel is more righteous than unfaithful Judah. 12 Go, proclaim this message toward the north: “ ‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will frown on you no longer, for I am faithful,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will not be angry forever. 13 Only acknowledge your guilt— you have rebelled against the LORD your God, you have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every spreading tree, and have not obeyed me,’ ” declares the LORD. 14 “Return, faithless people,” declares the LORD, “for I am your husband. I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion. 15 Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. 16 In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the LORD, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of the LORD.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. 17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the LORD, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the LORD. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts. 18 In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel, and together they will come from a northern land to the land I gave your ancestors as an inheritance. 19 “I myself said, “ ‘How gladly would I treat you like my children and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of any nation.’ I thought you would call me ‘Father’ and not turn away from following me. 20 But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me,” declares the LORD. 21 A cry is heard on the barren heights, the weeping and pleading of the people of Israel, because they have perverted their ways and have forgotten the LORD their God. 22 “Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding.” “Yes, we will come to you, for you are the LORD our God. 23 Surely the idolatrous commotion on the hills and mountains is a deception; surely in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel. 24 From our youth shameful gods have consumed the fruits of our ancestors’ labor— their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters. 25 Let us lie down in our shame, and let our disgrace cover us. We have sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our ancestors; from our youth till this day we have not obeyed the LORD our God.” (Jeremiah 3:6-25 NIV)

Prayer Lesson: 

The Gospel message in Jeremiah 3:6-25 teaches us that: 

1. Both you who say you are Christians and you who say you are not Christians are sinning and have committed vast sins 
2. The non Christians are never bothered when the Christians are sinning
3. The non Christians are worshiping idols instead of the living God
4. God has no favorites as long as you have committed a sin or are committing a sin or sins
5. Regardless of the extent of the sin committed God wants you to return to him. 
6. This is how God wants you to return to Him 

• Repent and admit your sins to Him [accept you are guilty as you pray, admit you have rebelled against God, admit you have scattered your favors to other wrong gods and idols, and admit that all this while you have been disobedient to God and that you seek forgiveness and a new life which brings you back to God]

• Regardless of who you are, or what your background was before, know that you belong to God and He chooses to choose you amongst the many once you accept Him to be your God

• Gather for prayers regardless of your tribe, nationality or even clan and Stop following the stubbornness of your evil hearts. Know that the Idolatrous actions of false worship you have been involved in have all along only been a deception from the truth that the LORD our God is the Salvation you need. And this you earn by accepting the LORD Jesus as your Lord and Savior [relate with the Gospel of John]

• Give your lives to our LORD God through our Lord Jesus Christ by accepting to be Born Again by water and Spirit you non Christians and you who backslide [relate to the gospel of John]

• You who backslide and had forgotten the true living God as your God, recommit your life by giving your life back to the living God and He will cure you of backsliding

Hebrews 3:6-19 New International Version (NIV):

"6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

Warning Against Unbelief

7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, 9 where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. 10 That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” 12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. 15 As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” 16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief." Prayer Lesson: 

The Gospel message in Hebrews 3:6-19 teaches you to: 

• Keep up your courage and remain confident with all your hope placed in our Lord Jesus Christ

What to do to remain bound for heaven or a belonging of the LORD God or to be controled by the LORD God: 

• Always Listen for and to the voice of Jesus Christ
• Do not harden your heart against Jesus Christ [be obedient]
• Always do what the Lord tells you to do [Act upon the voice of the Lord by doing what it tells you to do]  
• Believe only in the living God [You will enter God's place of rest or you will belong to God once you believe in Him and do as He tells you with no doubt or hesitation]

Day 3 Worship only the one true living God

• Daniel 3:6-20 NKJV
• Hebrews 10:1-5 NIV

Daniel 3:6-20 New King James Version (NKJV):

“6 and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace." 7 So at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, and lyre, in symphony with all kinds of music, all the people, nations, and languages fell down and worshiped the gold image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. 8 Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and accused the Jews. 9 They spoke and said to King Nebuchadnezzar, "O king, live forever! 10 You, O king, have made a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the gold image; 11 and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. 12 There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?" 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." 19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 20 And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace.” (Daniel 3:6-20 NKJV)

Prayer Lesson: 

The Gospel message in Daniel 3:6-20 teaches you to never worship any other God regardless of the authority in a human being that commands you to do otherwise.  

 

Hebrews 10:1-5 New International Version (NIV):

Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All

"1 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2 Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3 But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. 4 It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;" (Hebrews 10:1-5 NIV)

Prayer Lesson: 
The Gospel message in Hebrews 10:1-5 teaches us that all the material sacrifices we offer to God are not what He desires. The Sacrifice God desires is for you to give up yourself to God by accepting him as LORD and Savior and being Born again through the Lord Jesus Christ. So Be Born again now. It is the only way you be saved and it is the gate way to the Kingdom of God through our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.


Day 4. Are you among those with the resilienct needed faith to be protected by God's power

• 1 Peter 1:5 NIV

1 Peter 1:5 New International Version (NIV):

"5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." (1 Peter 1:5 NIV)

Prayer Lesson: 

1. Build resilience with faith in whatever situation to allow God's hand of protection to be on you
2. God protects you by His power until you receive His salvation- which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. [Regardless of who mocked and looked down on you or scolded or undermined you, God tells you to hold through the trial with faith to allow Him protect you all the way through so that those that looked down on you thinking you wouldn't come out of the trial as a victor to see you actually come out as a victor with the help of our LORD God].   

Day 5. Always walk in the presence of the Living God and act accountable at all times by repenting - walking humbly - and always doing right, and gathering together in prayer

• Joshua 6:10 NLT
• Hosea 2:2-3 NLT
• Zephaniah 2:1-3 NLT

Joshua 6:10 New Living Translation (NLT):

"10 'Do not shout; do not even talk," Joshua commanded." Not a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout. Then Shout!" (Joshua 6:10 NLT)

Hosea 2:2-3 New Living Translation (NLT):

"2 "But now, call Israel to account, for she is no longer my wife, and I am no longer her husband. Tell her to take off her garish makeup and suggestive clothing and to stop playing the prostitute. 3 If she doesn't, I will strip her as naked as she was on the day she was born. I will leave her to die of thirst, as in a desert or a dry and barren wilderness." (Hosea 2:2-3 NLT)

Zephaniah 2:1-3 New Living translation (NLT):

"1 Gather together and pray, you shameless nation. 2 Gather while there is still time, before judgement begins and your opportunity is blown away like chaff. Act now, before the fierce fury of the LORD falls and the terrible day of the LORD's anger begins. 3 Beg the LORD to save you-all you who are humble, all you who uphold justice. Walk humbly and do what is right. Perhaps even yet the LORD will protect you from his anger on that day of destruction." (Zephaniah 2:1-3 NLT)

Prayer Lesson: 

1. Always keep your mind, soul, and heart in the presence of God
2. Seek the presence of God on you and your household at all times 
3. Ensure you always have an account for your sins so as to be maintained in the yoke or protection of the LORD God.
4. Always gather with others or call on the Holy Spirit before you pray
5. Act now in repentance while there is still time. [Who knows! you could die before you did] 
6. Beg God to save you and others like you 
7. Humble yourself at all times and do what is right 
8. Return to God to be saved from destruction [God is a savior - you have to accept Him as your one true God and be on His side to be saved] 

Day 6  Allow God to build you into a living stone in His spiritual temple

• 1 Peter 2:5-11 NIV

1 Peter 2:5-11 New International Version (NIV): 

"5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” 7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” 8 and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Living Godly Lives in a Pagan Society

11 Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul." (1 Peter 2:5-11 NIV)

 

Prayer Lesson: 

1. Be strong spiritually [let you self control come from God - By yourself you are weak]
2. Represent God in Spirit through our Lord Jesus Christ
3. Listen to God beyond your praying voice to hear from Him so that He does not let you stumble
4. Be obedient in the face of God and in your praying
5. Be compassionate and show others God's goodness
6. Show to others the same reconciliation and love God has shown to you
7. Know that you do not belong to this evil world, so in all you do you have to keep away from all evil desires as their purpose is to fight against God's good intentions for your soul

Day 7  Pray with us and follow us every week 

a. Since we always make unintended sins, We should always recommit our lives to our Lord Jesus Christ

For You who has never given your life to Jesus Christ or You who wants to recommit your life

You do not want to go through any uncertainty when you you are not born again. You are therefore welcome to the life of salvation. Jesus Christ died for all of us to be saved. Believe me, you do not know what the future holds for you, You Must Be Born Again to be saved. In John 3:3 NLT Jesus Christ says, "I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God." In John 3:5-8 NLT assures that, 5 "The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven. 7 So don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born again. 8 Just as you can hear the wind but can't tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can't explain how people are born of the Spirit." I now encourage you to give your life to our LORD, the only true living God, the creator of Heaven and Earth by reconciling yourself to God through our Lord, the only son of the living God, Jesus Christ. 

So pray with me this prayer and GIVE YOUR LIFE TO JESUS CHRIST, say: 

My lord Christ Jesus, I believe you are the Son of the Living God. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I submit my life to You. I confess my sins and ask you to come into my life and save me. I want to know You. I want to learn to trust You. I know I cannot save myself. As of today and now, I ask You into my mind - heart - and soul as I accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. Please help me in Your name because I believe I am now born again. Amen.
